Wicked The Musical Returns to Los Angeles
Tony Award-winning musical Wicked returns to the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood and runs until January 29, 2012. The play is based on the book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, and it is basically a prequel to the famous 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. The story is about Elphaba (later known as the Wicked Witch) and Galinda (later known as the Good Witch) who attend school together. Galinda is commonly loved by all, while Elphaba has an unfortunate skin color of emerald-green and is a bit awkward. The story continues to show the two girls’ becoming friends despite their differences, and then later becoming rivals due to their common love for the same guy. Politics come into play as Elphaba has a different viewpoint than the Wizard’s corrupt government. The story shows how Elphaba essentially is shunned from society because of her unique thoughts and eventually turns into the Wicked Witch. The play has a lot of heart and tells a great story of friendship and love. The music is great and will keep you dancing in your seats throughout the show’s entirety! One of the most critically acclaimed musicals ever, it is a real treat to see Wicked return to Los Angeles for two entire months! Don’t miss out – buy your tickets today!

Dillon’s Irish Pub is a fun option to grab a drink although it can get busy at times. If you’re in the mood for sushi, Katsuya Hollywood is an amazing, although semi-pricey, place that you won’t regret trying! Wood & Vine is nearby and has tapas which are always fun for a filling afternoon snack. Gastropub Station Hollywood provides a friendly crowd and is usually mulling with theatre-goers before the show.
